Dear All,
In question to all the people who have sent in about clarinet
repairs, where can I go to learn how to do these things properly.I
have a basic understanding of how my clarinet works and I could probably
replace a pad or a cork if I had to but as for taking it apart I would
have no idea! Is there a course or something I can do to learn more? I'm
in Brisbane (Queensland, Aust) at the Uni of Qld studying science and I've
only been playing for about four years.
Too young? I didn't begin until I was in grade 9, 14 years old (I
am now 17) and I am now at about the same standard as the majority of
students who started in primary school 4 or 5 years before me and
whatsmore I still love playing! Granted my technical work (scales etc) is
quite poor but it's nothing 6 months of hard work probably wouldn't fix
and my theory knowledge is patchy but I can transpose, all I've ever
really needed to do. I do regret not starting earlier though. I don't know
(and I probably never will know) whether or not I would have been any
better if I had started earlier. Just some more food for thought. I guess
basically it really depends on the person.
I only joined yesterday and am so far finding the discussions very
interesting and am learning heaps. Until next time.
