Hello...

I'm considering the Messiaen "Abyss of the Birds" for part of the ARTS
adjudication packet that I'm putting together. My teacher, Judith
Kalin-Freeman, wanted me to search Klarinet for any articles on learning
that piece, e.g. especially in case THE CLARINET magazine ever had one.

Finally, I'm having trouble (still) finding a 20th century American
composer...do you think that the Osborne Rhapsody would be good for that
"requirement"?...do you think they would give me a little "lee-way" if I
did the Hindemith Sonata (being that he lived here)?

Thanks!

Ken Chin

p.s. I just wanted everyone to know that my teacher, Herbert Handman,
from Manhattan School of Music Preparatory Division, prior to his leaving
due to illness, died on July 13th from cancer. As some of you know, he
studied with McGinnis, Weber, Opperman, etc. and a former student, Keith
Lockhart, is now the conductor of the Boston Pops Orchestra. May his
true clarinet spirit live on! God bless him...
