In fifth grade, I learned the recorder, and it gave me a great foundation
for the clarinet when it came to the basics. The next two years I had
two outstanding teachers who really helped develop my talent. But
teaching your son involves a variety of factors. What worked for me may
not do anything for him.
Of course, no matter how great the foundation or teachers, if your son
doesn't want to now, don't push him. It might scare him off from music
entirely.
