Our school has a strong marching influence during summer and football
season. Our football team is always in the playoffs so we have a rather
long season.

To be honest, our bass clarinets stink also. The corks are falling off,
keys are in disrepair, etc. I took one home and can barely get a sound
out of it. But we invest in new brass instruments... four brand new
Farcus French Horns, new euphoniums, a $5,000 tuba. We did need some of
these though, so I can't really criticize.

I'd just say talk to your band director, and if that doesn't work you
really don't have a strong back-up plan. I suspect there must be some
reason for it though. I just wonder what it is.
