Woodwinds are usually overlooked at my school because we are more
interested in marching band preparation for the coming year. Since
brass and percussion play a more prominent role in that, perhaps the
director is preparing for marching band and may not be planning for
concert band.
I would find out from you director. I play tuba during marching season,
and I am constantly inquiring about tuba repairs, new instruments, etc.
despite our "preferential" status.
You never know -- there may be a reason.
