Well, you could tell them of the many Clarinet students who have had only a
few lessons on sax (5-10 lessons) who beat all of the other Sax players to
make Jazz band. The Clarinet is a lot harder to play at any level then the
Sax. How many Sax players have taught Clarinet with only a couple of
lessons on Clarinet. The reverse happens all of the time.
Just tell them that "at least you don't peel the paint off of the walls
when you play clarinet".

P.S. don't get me wrong, I love the Sax, I'm just giving you ammo.

Subject: Clarinets Dominate!

Some of the saxophonists in my performance group like to say the alto sax
is superior to the Bb clarinet. This is done in harmless fun, of
course, so I'm not interested in any thing along the lines "Just ignore
them." I would really like to know a few original, clean comebacks to
them. Thanx!
