Deborah,
Does the sound carry more than a few feet? Try recording yourself
by placing the mike in such a way that it is not immediately near your
instrument but rather picks up the room ambience. I'll bet you don't hear
the sound. Most such sounds are really much louder under the ear than to
the listener.
