A recent question asked about "good" student books (for a newbie with 2
years time in) and there have been some interesting replies.

Now I'll ask a slightly different version of this.

What does the assembled wisdom recommend for a _brand_new_ clarinetist? The
individual will be getting a small amount of small group instruction, but I
have some doubts about some if its value. The instructor has some strong
views (there is no mouthpiece but VanDoren B45, there is no reed but
VanDoren 3 1/2 - I think it possible that the world is not quite so absolute
).

So the individual will need something good for self teaching. I have
received one recommendation, to use a book entitled "Clarinet Student" (a
method for individual instruction) by Fred Weber (in collaboration with
Robert Lowry).

Any thoughts concerning this or other recommendations? TIA
