After reading of Julie's wrist problems, I thought to ask all of you
about a problem of mine. Perhaps someone else has the same problem---I
would like to hear your response. You see, my thumbs are double-jointed
at the last joint (they bend both forward AND backward!). This does not
pose a problem with my right hand, but is really getting in the way with
my left hand. Rather than using a correct left-hand position on the
clarinet, my thumb bends backward, thus causing some problems in
technique. Also, I have oftem experienced pain--most likely due to
pinching a nerve. Any suqqestions? I have baffled many, and will
appreciate any responses!
