Well, Craig, I guess that depends on the circumstances. Are you the best
Eb player in the band? If so, the strongest argument might simply be to
let your director see how he/she likes listening to someone else try and
play the parts. If it's a situation where the director just doesn't want
to have an Eb clarinet playing (why would anyone ever want that?:), the
only angle I can see is to show him/her all the things that would be
missing without the eefer. If that doesn't work, there's probably not
much you can do other than to continue studying Eb on your own for now.
