Craig,
My first question would be why did he "ban" you from playing Eflat? If you
intend on going into music as a profession after high school, I would say
the experience of alternating the two would be invaluable to you and your
director should see that. In most instances that I have seen, alternating
is done primarily by the first chair. However, if I were lucky enough to
have two good Eflat players, I would certainly try to utilize both of them
at some time or another.
