Just my two cents....Does your band have more than one Eb clarinet
player. I'm guessing, the answer is no. How critical is the Eb part
going to be in the upcoming school year? Is there a need for it in
every selection? What I am trying to get to and stumbling to get there is,
why don't you talk to your director and see if you can play Bb and Eb for
the entire year. Eb if pieces call for it to be heard, and if not, Bb as
your default position. I think it is nice to play and blend in with a
clarinet section. It helps you listen to each other. If you played Eb
by your self, you would probably hear yourself fine but you wouldn't
"tune" to others playing the same instrument.

Take care and good luck!

George
