The director I play under, Eugene Corporon, consistantly stresses this among
his students. I have learned to go for a relaxed state of concentration and
as a result my technique has become cleaner and much more reliable. I have
since applied this to all aspects of my playing and low and behold but it has
all gotten better. Maybe we are missing something? Shouldn't we be teaching
this kind of thing from the beginning?
