Well, even though there isn't a practice mute for the clarinet, one thing
that I did on my vacation was to fashion a wooden box that was large
enough for my clarinet. I then covered the top with a couple of old
blankets with holes in them, and that way the sound was a bit muffled.
One of the positive things to come about of this was that my finger
posture (if here is such a thing) improved immensely due to the fact that
if my fingers came up too far, Bruise City. I hope I helped, enjoy the
long hours of summer practicing.
