I think Ricardo points out some good things about the example of this
entire tongue piercing issue. Although someone earlier said that blowing
a hole in your head was merely a descriptive analogy and not meant to
insult anyone, I am actually MORE repelled by the idea of implied suicide
then piercing a body part.
Now, I am a pretty tolerant person and I wasn't extremely offended by it,
and neither was Ryan, I must add. Still, sarcasm is a dangerous weapon
and no matter how it was meant for the subject to take it, it is still
negative and breaks down a student rather than builds him up.
I am thankful that Ricardo learned that not responding negatively to
seemingly shocking practices is the best way to go.
