Chad,

How old are you? Unless you are a professional, out of college, I cannot
understand why you would be practicing for 6 hours a day. There is a lot to
learn that isn't the clarinet (assuming you are not yet out of College). And
it is equally important to balance your life with things like... other people
(friends), as well as music theory, history, math biology etc. etc.. A forced
regime can backfire and you should not be "forced" to do anything by your
parents (other than obey their rules and regulations about the home and home
life while you live with them).

If it is any help, one of my previous teachers said that there is no point in
practicing more than a couple (max 3 total!) hours a day. Any more is not
productive work. Pianists have to practice more than 3 hours to memorize vast
quantities of repetoire, but for Clarinet I cannot understand why you would
be practicing 6 hours a day at this point in time.

David,
I can't really reduce my practice time because my parents make me
practice at least 3 hours a session , two sessions a day. Well, I will
look into getting a neckstrap, my mom said that BG france makes one for
clarinets. I have been costing them so much money I am afraid to ask, ya
right. Thank you for the suggestions.
