Chad,

Have you talked to your parents about this? I think that if you sit
down and really persuade them they would bend a little. I don't think
it's so much how long you practice but how you practice. Maybe if you
pledge to put for more effort for two hours at a time they would agree
-- on a trial basis perhaps. That way you would still give ample
attention to the instrument, and solve you finger dilemma.

I think also that six hours is a little much to spend on the horn
anyway. I'm not a pro, and am not aspiring to be so my circumstances
may differ, but devote some time to score study, listening, and the like
as well. Maybe this could play into your practice sessions as well.
Two hours practice, one hour study per session. I know that as much as
I love to play I can only take so much sometimes. If I'm just having a
bad day I just wrap it up early and cut my losses, there's no use in
practicing when nothing comes of it. On a good day I can go way over my
alotted time.

Good luck. Keep us posted.

Point to Ponder

"If it can't chuck wood, why is it called
a woodchuck?"
