Klarinet Archive - Posting 000403.txt from 1997/07

Recently, I have begun arranging works for clarinet. Due to a great
lack of Eb Soprano Clarinet Solos on our Florida Bandmasters Contest
List I have decided to arrange my own for next March.
I have decided upon an Opera based suite. I am looking to arrange three
different selections, fast-slow-fast. So far I have decided upon
Smetana's "Dance of the Comedians" from The Bartered Bride as one of the
fast sections. I am having a real problem locating a slow movement
however.
Does anyone have any suggestions of something for the slow movement, or
suggestions in general? I was looking for something from a tragic opera
specifically so that it would provide more contrast with the outer
movements.
Thanks!
