For those of you on the list who may not have seen a pierced tongue (too
bad Dan Leeson is on vacation for this one!), it is really quite a
gruesome sight to behold! I don't know what's up with the kids these
days, but they really seem to be into this self-mutilation thing. How can
you blow your nose properly when you have a cold if you've got something
resembling a bull's ring going through your nostrils?
I don't even want to approach the infection/scar tissue possibilities for
fear of losing my breakfast.
To be totally honest, I feel that any young person who is really and truly
serious about playing a wind instrument would not want to do this to
himself. I find that I have difficulty taking some of these kids
seriously, because they seem more interested in being a mutant freak than
in being a clarinet player.
Score one for the YOUNG fogeys!
