I have been using the "Learn to Play the Clarinet" Book I for my beginning students. It is by Jacobs. Published by Alfred Publishing Co. I think that it progresses very nicely. I do not like Book II as much though, so for a second level book, I use either the Rubank Supplementary Studies for Clarinet, or the 60 Rambles for Clarinet by Leon Lester. (The Lester is more advanced that the Rubank, so it depends on the student).

If these are not available where you are, you can probably order them from Dorn Publications.( www.dornpub.com) They have a good selection of Jazz music also, so you may find what you are looking for.
Hope this helps.

Subject: Methods and Quartets

Hello from Portugal.

I need some help with the following questions:

1. What Clarinet Methods exist in the market? - I'm talking about really
good Clarinet Methods (Only for BEGGINERS) that you could advice me to buy.
Since I'm a Clarinet teacher for young clarinetists starting their musical
adventure - what methods would you recomend me to buy?

2. Are there any Jazz Quartets writen for Clarinets? Wich ones? Where could
I buy them?

Thank you very, VERY, much

Ricardo Diniz Quintas ;-)
