Hi LicoriceStick...

One of the best clarinet players I know (bass clarinetist of the Vancouver
Symphony) anchor tongues, and gets along just fine. In general it's not
recommended, but it works for some people. How's your speed? Can you tongue
cleanly in the high (and altissimo) register? You say you're afraid you
won't progress any more- you may be right, or you may just be at a plateau;
a breakthrough may be just around the corner! I would say, though, that
it's not something that can really be solved by email... you really need a
teacher, or at least another player that you respect, to listen and help.
