Nick,

Now, since you've begun to gain independence of your fingers, be
especially cautious of your fingers when you play. Be sure that pinky is
down. It is easier now with the added flexibility, but it will still
take a while. I think it is worth it. When I had to play fast parts and
I had to jump between keys, I found it helpful to have all of my fingers
down. Plus, I think it just looks better if a clarinetist's fingers
aren't waving at me while he plays.

Of course, if a professional player or music major says it doesn't really
matter, feel free to take his/her opinion over mine. S/He would
definitely know better then I.
