Subject: "The Basset Horn and its Music" by John Newhill
Date 12 July 1997
Stocks of this book, reprinted in its second edition in 1986, became
exhausted at the end of last year. It is the only book on this subject
in English. Compared to the first edition, it has an extended coverage
of repertoire. In April this year, with the agreement of the author and
as a virtually non-profit making exercise - this is after all a minority
interest - I reprinted a limited edition with minor corrections. Those
who only have the first edition should serious consider getting the
second edition.
When it was written the author had 25 years of experience of playing the
instrument and researching its repertoire in European libraries.
This is a staple bound paper back with 128 pages. It has been reduced 7
percent to fit the folded standard paper size (circa 8.25x11.6 inches,
known here as A4). The original Courier style typeface has been
retained.
The cost is GBP7 plus GBP1.50 for p+p for UK or;
USD11 plus USD4 for p+p airmail elsewhere.

I am currently preparing to start publishing, next year, under the name
of Rosewood Music Publications. We will begin with some carefully
selected chamber music works, for any ensembles that include the
clarinet, or clarinets, that have existed in unpublished manuscript or
have remained out of print for many years and have reached the public
domain.
