Kenneth,
I myself am completely disgusted with the lack of service and of
paucity of classical selection at most so-called record stores. That's why
I usually mail-order things. There are dozens of such services and
everyone should be able to find them either on the internet or just by
word of mouth.
As for the ohter point, Peabody is associated with Johns Hopkins
University but I am dubious of their business offerings. A school that I
know of in Maryland with both a strong music department and a strong
business dept. is University of Maryland at College Park. Towson State U.
is also a decent bet. For those more interested in the business than the
music, I highly recommend Goucher College (see Marshal Mentz's previous
posting). Goucher has a very small music department which is of excellent
quality for its size but really can't compete with the likes of Peabody or
even Towson.
