Not Suzanne -- it's Camille Paglia. (Correcting myself.)

Fred--
Are you mixing together Susan McClary (musicologist) and (I can't dredge up
her first name, it might be Suzanne) Paglia, who writes vitriolic fascist
anti-feminist pseudo-learned books and appears on talk shows? I disagree
with them both, but McClary is civilized.

Tonya,
A musicologist named Susan Paglia (I think) has done quite a bit
of work in this area, tho I categorically disagree with her premise - that
women's compositions are characteristically different from men's. You can
try doing an internet search for her name. Also check out the AMS - the
American Musicological Society for her papers.
