This question comes up periodically, and I am surprised that those
responding seldom mention the New England Music Camp in Maine. It is an
excellent camp, the second oldest in existence in this country. (Only
Interlochen is older.) There are two four week sessions each summer.
Campers can enroll for either session, or for both. It is in part a
combined music and sports camp. Music classes, rehearsals and lessons all
morning, and sometimes again in the evening, with the afternoons given
over to physical recreation, including swimming, sailing, soccer,
cross-country, and many others.

I taught there for three years, and found it to be an excellent program.
I saw many students experience in a short period of time a great deal of
personality development as well as growth as musicians. I recommend it
highly.
