Major Pentatonic: 3 whole steps and 2 minor third intervals which are
between steps 3 and 4 and 5 and 6. Thus [in C] C D E G A C.

Minor Pentatonic: 3 whole steps and 2 minor third intervals which, in
minor, are between steps 1 and 2 and 4 and 5. Thus [in C] C Eb F G Bb C.
