Like Gary, I too question the validity of having differently-lengthed
barrels for A and Bb clarinets. I think it's entirely possible to use the
same barrel on both A and Bb, depending on the particular idiosyncracies
of the clarinets, the barrels, the player's embouchure, and, as always,
the way in which all of these interface with the critical
reed/mouthpiece/ligature setup. I've often used my 65mm Buffet barrel on
both clarinets (first with my college's A clarinet and now with the one I
just purchased), and have never had a problem with intonation. On the
other hand, I have a 66mm Buffet Moennig which tunes great on the A, and
is intolerable on the Bb. So I think it really all depends...
