Sean,

We (the OSU Clarinet Studio/Research Group) are involved in a number of
projects that relate to your interests. I will do a slide and DAT
presentation for the ICA in Lubbock (Sat.) that concerns the evolution of
tone quality (timbre, tonal spectra) in single- and double-reed instruments
from early examples (renaissance shawm and two baroque chalumeaux) to
modern instruments. The computer techniques used for analysis will be
similar to those involved with the "computer tutorial" project that you
mention below.
