Hallo klarinetters
This is the first time I've posted a message, so I'll do a brief biog fir=
st.
I'm a part-time clarinet teacher/fulltime mother, fifth grade clarinet =

and theory level, living in Sydney Australia.

My question: there's been some discussion recently about lengths of
barrels, but none about diameters. I've been told by "experts" that all =

clarinets are the same size, so all barrels/mouthpieces fit all clarinets=
.
Personal experience with my pupils' instruments and mine tells me
otherwise. One pupil has a barrel a couple of millimetres longer than =

mine (I haven't done an exact measurement, only held them against
each other), and consequently sounds very flat. I've tried putting my =

(Artley plastic) barrel on her (Yamaha plastic) clarinet, but it doesn't =

fit on. Neither will my Vandoren (B45) mouthpiece fit on her barrel. =

How can she/I buy (by mail order) a shorter barrel and be sure that it =

will fit on her clarinet? Or is there another alternative?

TIA for your answers
