The Hite Premiere, if selected from several, is a good intermediate
mouthpiece...that is...for junior high and high school use. I have a
student who has an excellent Premiere......however, I have tried 10 to
every 1 that are not so good...usually bright and edgy, and on the sharp
side.

I have found the stock Yamaha to have a good track record with student
grade clarinets. The Vandoren B45 is a bit open for young students, but
can be resolved simply by moving to a more closed opening...such as the
2RV or 5RV.

For $75, Robert Scott in East Lansing, MI makes two mouthpieces that are
great for high school and college (I have a couple of 7th graders on them
as well).....either the 112 or 118 facing is great!
