Only in genetics would I ever dare contradict Dan Leeson (who,
among others on this list, has provided this rank amateur
with a top-notch clarinet education) but the saying is that
we're separated *by acquaintance* from one another by five degrees
(or six, or seven, depending on who you talk to) of separation.
Genetically however, no matter your ethnicity, you're at least
a 66th cousin to anybody else on earth. So, be nicer
to that trumpet and/or viola player. They may be your 23rd
cousin.
