Hi Craig,
Sorry it took so long to reply to your message regarding alternate fingerings
on the Poulenc... Been kind of busy lately. The alternate fingerings which
my prof. suggested which work for me are:
Ist Movement (hopefully your copy is numbered the same)
7 measures after rehearsal 7, I use 3rd finger on the Eb, regular fingering
on the D, and fork on the 2nd Eb
9 measures after rehearsal 7, I use half hole on the F natural on the first
note of the measure
at rehearsal 8 I use =ooI o=o for the second note (Eb), this helps for smooth
transition from B to Eb

I suggest to play around with the opening measures and find what is most
comfortable for you, but try out all alternate fingerings on these passages
especially...

3rd Movement
4 measures after rehearsal 3, I use o==I ==0 Eb for the high G, it seems to
come out easier for me
7 measures after rehearsal 5 I use =ooI o=o for the A# which helps for
smoothness between the C# and F#.
9 measures after rehearsal 5 I use right hand B natural which helps because
you don't have to get your finger in place so fast after the G#.

Those are my main suggestions.. try them and any other place where there are
possible alternate fingerings. They may or may not work for you but it's
worth a try to play around with several fingerings when you are presented
with a piece that has many finger tricks...
Good luck, let me know what you use , what worked or didn't work for you, and
if you found any other fingerings to use....
Noelle
