This is not related to any current threads. I just find myself
feeling much appreciation for the existence of Klarinet and would
like to thank each of you for your participation. When working
9 hour days with only a single day off every week, coming home
and firing up the modem is a nice way to distract my mind from
the stresses of the day. Having been a member of Klarinet for
probably close to 5 years, there haven't been any topics which
were radically new or controversial over the past couple of years,
yet I've found that there's always more to be said in each case.
One would think that a rehashing of exchanges on Mozart's concerto
would be uninteresting. Instead, we've got a dialectic concerning
whether or not the piece itself is capable of being boring, and why
that may or may not be! It's good stuff. What else are we talking
about? How to develop staccato technique. How to interpret the
phrasing on a section marked "recitative". I particularly liked
one person's instigation of a thread concerning clarinet sections
of orchestras around the world. I have yet to delete all of the
responses to that one because I plan to write them down first.

Participating on Klarinet has kept me in touch with my passion for being
a musician, focusing my attention on how to create that music using my
particular tool. I had to stop playing for several years, just inches
away from earning my music degree, because of a family crisis. While I
dealt with issues of "life", Klarinet and all of its members acted as a
life line. To all of you, for all of your thoughts, questions, and
input on our cherished subject, I extend my eternal thanks and gratitude.

Neil
