I read through this piece a few years ago from a library copy; it said
that it was the required piece at I believe the Lyons Competition. To say
that it did not turn my crank is an understatement; I remember thinking
"Man those poor players, having to learn this (*&^(*&"...it just seemed
like a bunch of notes thrown on the page in complete chaos (bear in mind
I DO love and play a fair bit of contemporary stuff, extended techniques
and all). I remember my amazement that such a collage could find a
publisher...such are my recollections!
