Ah, yes, the perennial search for a group name. I was in the graduate
wind quintet here at the U of A for 5 or 6 years. We went through a
number of personnel changes, the bassoonist and I being the only ones that
lasted the duration (we started as Master's students and continued on to
the doctoral program; that's why it took so long!). I don't know that we
EVER settled on a name for the group, though many were discussed. For
most of our existence, we were simply THE Graduate Wind Quintet! One of
the names brought up was Blazerquintet, a play on the German term for a
wind quintet, Blaserquintett. Depending on what you aim to do, you may
want to be certain that you don't pick one already in professional use.

Of course, my favorite nomination during those wonderful years was "Four
Boys and a Babe". ;^)
