I've only just started to learn Jazz improvisation myself, and, because I
haven't found anybody to practise with yet I can only go by books :(

Try to get 'Improvise Microjazz' by Christopher Norton from your local music
shop. I'm afraid that's all my rather limited knowledge of the topic can
provide at this time...
