I had my horn overhauled in April by Clark Fobes, a sometimes-contributor
to this list. Check Sneezy for his phone number; he also has an ad in
the ICA journal issue that just came out. He did a very nice job; my
biggest complaint was tight tenon corks!!

I've always used UPS to ship horns and never had a problem. Use
second-day air and insure for the value of the instrument. It costs about
$20.00 or so.

Steve Prescott, another repair tech who contributes to the list, is closer
to you (Indiana) if you prefer that.

Oh, and Clark used Straubinger pads for the lower joint and corks for the
upper joint. So far, so good! Price was somewhere around $350 -- more
than what you probably pay your local techs. but worth it IMHO.

Hope this helps.
