Rich,
I have some recommendations, although I do not claim to know all. My
instructor sends all of his instruments to Rick Sayre in Chicago. A B17
dujour(sp?) pad is a very good pad, although there may be others that are
equally as good. The price of an overhaul is generally in the neighborhood
of $150-175 for a really good job by an experienced technician. As far as
shipping, always insure. It makes me very uneasy to ship my horn off but
we have to do it here due to the rural location and lack of quality
services. My instructor and several students have had overhauls by Rick
and he is very good. If you would like to have his address/phone, just
write back and I'll get it for you. Hope this helps!
