Gabriel,

I have an M13 Lyre (a little more open than the M13) and find it to be very
enjoyable! It tunes flatter - at A440 rather than A442. But you can correct
this with a barrel depending on your orchestra's/piano's preference. The
sound I get using Vandoren White Master (I used these because of the
similarity of the M13's geometry to a german facing) is very interesting -
caramel, chewey, rich.

I would highly recommend you look into the Zinner mouthpiece as well. Here in
the colonies a fellow by the name of Hawkins refaces them for 'merkin tastes.
But the shape of the baffle and interior finish are far superior to Vandoren
and I think contribute to the amazing sense of control one gets. Twice as
expensive as the M13 though.

One advantage to the M13 or any other Vandoren is that the company is so
consistent with their mouthpieces that if you break one and have to get
another, you can rest assured you will find one. Whereas with an individual
who customizes it is a fair chance they will all be different and tough to
replace if necessary.

Hope this helps!

new M13 - anyone familiar with?
