I used a pair of Heavy Duty scissors (ya know, the ones advertised to cut
through a penny nail, etc.)
3/8 is about right.

David,
What tool did you use to cut the center of the rails on the inverted Bonade.
Can I use a hacksaw? It seems that I would have to cut about 3/8". Is this
correct?
