I have an electronic tuner, and I use it for certain purposes. For
example, I can check a reed to see if it has a tendency to play sharp or
flat, or I can learn about the natural intonation tendencies of certain
notes on an instrument, so that I know which direction I am likely to have
to adjust each note, and how much.

I hope this doesn't sound too simplistic, but the conventional wisdom is
that we learn to play in tune by playing with players who play in tune.
That's the quickest way. So I recommend to students that they always try
to find better and more experienced players with whom to play in
ensembles.

Improving in this area as in other areas of musical skills is a process of
accepting, responding to and learning from situations which involve
increasingly stringent musical demands.

I wish there were a simpler, easier method, but I don't know of one.
