I don't actually think it's the electronic tuner that is the real problem
so much as the tendency of players to rely on the meter rather than
listening to the tone generator and using it as a pitch standard. Spend the
extra money to buy a tuner that can produce the pitch aurally. Tune to that
and then check against the meter to see how close you came.
