Especially if he was using the same edition as I have
(International), in which I. and II. say "Preferably Clarinet in A,"
and III. says "Preferably Clarinet in Bb."
Perhaps S. felt strongly enough about it to note it for professional
recitalists -- but not strongly enough about it to wish to discourage
potential buyers of the sheet music who alas, own but one instrument.
