Peter,
My experience tuning with piccolos is that no matter how good your
horn is, if the picc player isn't a real specialist in piccolo, he/she'll
be very difficult to tune with because he won't be able to consistantly
control his instrument. Many flute players are just plain mediocre picc
players. I, for example, like eefer and have an ear for the sound and
tuning. However, I am not as good on Bass as I am on either eefer or
regular clarinet.
