Unfortunately, this did indeed happen to her. In this case she was the first
female in a European orchestra. Whether this type of behaviour represents a
violence on the part of a male "club" against a female intruder, or a unique
European code of conduct, I agree it is unfortunate and unacceptable. I have
already been informed by others on the list of similarly bad treatment of
females in european orchestras.

I certainly do not mention this because I condone it. (I hope that goes
without saying.)
