The comments made by Mr. Korten are truly sad. Demanding the respect of
others does not make one a "sissy". I do not know Mr. Korten or his
professional background (if he has one) nor do I wish to. However, if he
thinks that ridding the list of the "undesirables" who have less knowledge
than he thinks he has will make it more productive, he is mistaken. True
success is measured not by how much knowledge you have but how you share
it with others. Sarcasm and put downs from those who think they know it
all do not strengthen younger musicians as Mr. Korten claims it does. I
hope to heaven he is not a teacher. Maybe if he cannot learn anything from
others on this list about the clarinet, possibly he could take a lesson in
manners and respect. It is painfully obvious that he needs much study in
these areas.
