My experience with Dampits and with orange peels (Hans Moenig's preference
over Dampit) is that you'll know if the humidity is too high. The
instrument will be soaking wet when you open the case. I'm certain this
isn't good for the pads, probably not for the wood either. So if the
instrument is actually wet when you take it out, chill out on the
humidifier until things dry out again.
