Chuck,
I couldn't agree with you more. I do not & have never played clarinet,
but my 13 year old daughter Danielle does. I too, screen the list & I must
admit,
I know absolutely nothing about alot of the posts. But, we have also learned
alot that she (& most certainly, I) could not have learned elsewhere.
Danielle is an excellent player for her age. She has been playing for
almost 5 years now & also plays a couple of other instruments
(secondarily), but
clarinet will always be her "first love". She will be going to music camp
for the
fourth time this summer, which, by the way, I couldn't afford to send her
to, so
her band director got her a scholarship. (I suspect the scholarship is
coming
straight out of his pocket)
Anyways, her band director is wonderful, but even so, he does not
have the answers to all her questions. I would think this list would be a
bit
more encouraging to players of all levels. I know even my daughter with her
limited experience, is thrilled to try & answer any questions she can from
the
younger kids.
Up until now, I have been too scared of getting flamed to submit any
of our questions to the list, but couldn't keep quiet any longer. If any of
you
"experts" think some of the questions are "below" you, why not simply hit
delete
& not respond to them??

Thanks for letting me get this off my chest...I feel much better now,

Melody Jonak
