(New Subject title :)

I completely agree. I have been taking lessons for almost the whole 7 years
solely on bass clarinet. That is also why I've taken up clarinet, I like to
opt for the bass part when its available, but when its not, thats okay too.
As far as music for bass, for things like solos, I haven't played bass
clarinet solo music in years. I've never had any bad comments from anyone
with reguards to playing clarinet music on a bass clarinet. In fact, I did
all three movements of Mozart's clarinet concerto K622 on bass this year. As
far as bending the other way, it doesn't bother me either way. I plan on
minoring in music and hope to play in ensembles outside of my career. I
might not follow the "traditional" path, but I've gotten very good at bass, I
like the music for it, and will probably keep on playing it as my primary
instrument. I can hold my own for both instruments though, so we'll see what
happens :)
